Craig Hartsburg had the pleasure of coaching young Steve "Franchise" Mason in the 2008 World Juniors. Tonight, he had to face the young sensation. Jakub Voracek's goal was the only goal of the game and it was the game-winner, as the Senators were shutout 1-0.

Antoine Vermette and Dany Heatley a crapload of chances to score but they couldn't convert. Heatley had a chance to tie it up late in the 3rd but Mason made the gargantuan glove save. Chris Kelly also had a chance to tie it up, but it the the crossbar. Overall, the defense and steady goaltending of Alex Auld gave the offense a chance to win the game, but they couldn't reply. I'll give props to the whole defensive linepu, they were flying tonight, getting shots on net, making smart defensive plays(aka Brian Lee) and blocking some big-time shots. However, not only didn't any secondary scorer score, but the Pizza Line(although broken up in the 3rd) didn't score a goal either. It's getting annoying that our defense is working it's ass off but mega players like Dany Heatley can't make a simple pass to Alexandre Picard.

Alex Auld actually pretty good tonight. He was his steady, calm usual self during his tenure as starting goaltender. The goal by Voracek was one that no goalie could stop(it was deflected). He kept the Sens in but again he was left to dry by his offensive teammates.

The Sens head to Ovechkin Land to face the Caps on Sunday and after last game against them, it should be a good game. Kuba should be given once again the role of protecting Ovechkin as he excelled in the role the 2 games that he was in that role against Ovie while when it was Phillips' turn, well, a 5-1 loss should tell you.
